Welcome back!

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

It’s been a while since this blog has been updated, but I think we are just about ready to dig in again.  Since December, we have made quite a few changes to the site that we will be rolling out over the next month or so that we think you might all be excited about.

The first change we have rolled out is full integration with Google Checkout!  When checkout was first released last year, we thought it had potential and put it on our radar to watch, but when we started getting requests to accept it, we thought it was time to make it happen.

What should you be excited about Google Checkout?  Checkout is like PayPal, but cheaper for everyone.  Also, you only have to fill out your information once, in Google Checkout, and then Google passes that information along to merchants…no need to keep creating accounts everywhere.

They also have a $10 bonus when you make your first purchase with Google Checkout, so come over and buy some underwear, and Google will chip in $10!

This was actually a little bit tricky for us to work in since many of the features and bonuses we offer requires an account on our system (like VYP points and our newsletter subscription), but we aren’t going to let that functionality keep you from being happy!

You can, of course, pay by credit card directly at our site, Google Checkout is totally optional.

So how do you make your choice?  When checking out, if you want to use Google Checkout, click on this button:

If you want to use your YourPrivates.com account and pay by credit card, you can use this button:

We’re looking for feedback on your experience with Google Checkout, so let me know what you think.  :)

I’ll be back soon with more witty commentary and tales from the inside of an underwear company soon, and will also have some great new site enhancements to share with you to!

Tattoo Post Winner

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

So the time has come for a summary and to announce our winner.

We had a couple image entries that we posted, like this one of Robert in his chair with his tattoo and underwear showing, or the one we received from amateur hunk earlier with his white jock.

We also got an image in of a guy that had all his junk tattooed, talk about trouser snake! (That’s what image was tattooed).

There were some clever ideas too, like this one:

What if there was a sun on one cheek and a moon on the other?

The could be interesting…talk about moon’s over my hammy…Suns seemed to be a theme too, like in this one from Michelle:

I find it hot when a guy has a sun tattooed over his belly button. My ex had one and seeing that with him in his underwear always got me going!

Another reader had one, but couldn’t get a picture in on time. Of his, he writes:

I have a tribal tattoo going down where I should have a treasure trail. Just the top of it peaks out of the top of my briefs, but it’s enough to get people to want to see more.

We had lots more people write in (I wish they had sent pictures!), but we had such a huge response right off the bat from Robert’s picture that we decided he had to be the winner! So congrats Robert! And feel free to send us more pictures!

We’re still working on the format to get more people involved and to make it easier for everyone to participate, so if you have any ideas on how we can improve or men’s underwear related contests you would like to see, let me know!

Extended Vacation and Free Underwear

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Hey there boy and girls, I have returned after a nice vacation!  So how are you liking our new digs?  We spent several months gathering feedback from you, my readers, our customers and just people who stopped by to look around.  Hopefully you found something you liked!

I spent most of this weekend trying to catch up…several hundred emails and close to 50 voicemails later, I almost feel lost!

One of the fun things I get to do here is chat with a lot of guys who want to know more about underwear (and who just like to chat), and I got to catch up with a lot of you this weekend as well.

In one discussion I had with a guy in NYC we started talking about getting the word out…he is a fan of the site and wanted to tell his friends about the site (actually, about a couple products we sell specifically).

Did he not know about our free underwear program?

Do you?

Well here’s the scoop…on every product page is a link that says “Tell a Friend.”  If you click on this link you will be asked to either log in or create an account.  This is important, you’ll find out why in a minute.

From there, you will have the opportunity to select who you want the email to go out to as well as changing up the message.  Click Continue and your message is on it’s way!

Now why did you have to log in or create an account?  Simple, we want to reward you if your friend comes back to buy from us.  If your friend follows the link and makes a purchase from us, we will give you 100 vyp points.  Which means, for those of you that are new, you get about 10 bucks off your next order!  Just think…if you got 10 friends to buy from us, that’s 100 bucks in FREE underwear!

We’ve already had some people make out like bandits on this, so you might as well jump on the bandwagon my friends.

Anyways, tomorrow I’ll be back to my normal blog posting routine.

Have fun, and drop me a line!

It’s a whole new world under there

Monday, October 16th, 2006

“We interrupt our regularly scheduled Monday Melee with this special announcement.”

It has finally happened!  If you have been to the site (or this blog) before, today you will surly notice something new and different about the site.

We listened to a lot of customer feedback and have redesigned the site based on that, and we think you are going to love what you see.  Yesterday afternoon we flipped the switch for the big change and have already received some great comments from you guys.

Why did we make this change?  Since we opened 2 years ago, our primary business has changed.  Starting off as a custom lingerie and underwear store, we have morphed into a more boutique men’s store.  The old design of the site didn’t really make that change with us, so we gave it a good overhaul so you could really see what we were about.

One of the things we think you will notice is that we sell a whole lot more than just underwear.  That’s right, we do.  We sell underwear, undershirts, swimwear, skull caps/beanies, jewelry, skin care, lubes and more.  For the last year we have research products to make sure that we have the very best of the products that help define you as a man.  The new design makes that point easier to see.

There are some cool enhancements that we have made to the existing features of the site, for example if you hover over a product a small window will appear with extra details about the product.  Searching has been improved too, so if you search for the term ‘thong’ we will first show you all of the categories that contain the word thong in the product name or description.  This will keep you from having to go through categories you aren’t really interested in.  You will also be told before you submit your search exactly how many products the search will return!

Checking out is easier as well, we eliminated a few screens so it will take you fewer clicks.  And as an added bonus…for those of you who hate hate hate having to create an account when you are shopping at a new site, you can now checkout without having to go through the account creation process.

The fun doesn’t stop there, but this post would get too long if I went into all of the cool new features.  Over the next couple weeks I will be posting some of the cooler functions in greater detail.

Bottom line to this whole upgrade is that we believe that you, the customer, the reader, the men on the net, will have a greater experience shopping with us than ever before.

If you haven’t done so yet, check out the site.  Love it or hate it, we want your feedback.

Hey guys,

We got a lot more feedback than we expected regarding chaning up our categories.  (Thanks for the feedback, btw).  So we haven’t made the changes yet, we want to incorporate as many of your ideas as possible.
